Several Nigerians feared dead in gas plant explosion

The truck according to BBC had been offloading cooking gas while some locals were been queuing up for in readiness for Christmas. As hundreds of locals were buying gas for meals on Christmas, the truck exploded killing several people including factory workers. The fire raged for at least five hours as emergency services struggled to put it off. Survivors as well as those who succumbed to the flames were rushed to the Nnamdi Azikwe University hospital. The hospital is situated in Nnewi, an area predominantly inhabitted by Christians. Workers from the gas plant as wel customers were among several certifified dead according to statements from locals. Brazil bans Facebook for 48 hours

The blockade has shocked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg whose company also owns WhatsApp. This was carried out in a report by The Telegraph . At least 100 million Brazilians access the social network app. A Brazilian judge has banned WhatsApp in the country for 48 hours, starting this morning at 2:00am. The ban was imposed by Judge Sandra Regina Nostre Marques according to reports. This follows failure by WhatsApp to respond to a court order of July 23, 2015 on August 7, 2015. The prosecution the requested for the blockade of the service for 48 hours. Brazil’s largest telecoms operator had lobbied against WhatsApp in August for using free voice calling. Oscar Pistorius no longer under 24-hour house arrest

SOUTH AFRICA - Murder convicted blade runner Oscar Pistorius is now free to leave his uncle's home where he is being kept under house arrest. A judge granted him bail of $685 (ZAR10 000) today, allowing to leave the house between 7am and 12pm. He will however be under electronic surveillance. Pistorius was found guilty of murder five days ago, overturning an earier ruling of culpable homicide. His defense is expected to file an appeal against the murder conviction at the country’s constitutional court. Pistorius killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp claiming he mistook her for an intruder on February 14, 2013. However, despite being granted bail, Pistorius may not be allowed to travel beyond a radius of 20 kilometers. He was previously placed under house arrest after spending serving part of the of the five-year sentence he was given last year by Judge Thokozile Ma
