Several Nigerians feared dead in gas plant explosion

Several Nigerians are believed to have died when a gas plant south east of the country burnt after a truck exploded.
The truck according to BBC had been offloading cooking gas while some locals were been queuing up for in readiness for Christmas.
As hundreds of locals were buying gas for meals on Christmas, the truck exploded killing several people including factory workers.
The fire raged for at least five hours as emergency services struggled to put it off.
Survivors as well as those who succumbed to the flames were rushed to the Nnamdi Azikwe University hospital.
The hospital is situated in Nnewi, an area predominantly inhabitted by Christians.
Workers from the gas plant as wel customers were among several certifified dead according to statements from locals.
According to the BBC, Nigerian police described the fire as a ‘huge inferno’.
It could not be established how many people died in the inferno though an Associated Press (AFP) reported stated the figure at 100 people.

Two Men Wrongfully Convicted of Killing Malcolm X Awarded $26 Million

In order to resolve legal claims brought by two men who were wrongfully convicted of murdering civil rights activist Malcolm X in 1965, New York City will pay $26 million. This is according to reports by CNN, Washing Post and many other news agencies. When a court found that Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam h ad suffered from "severe miscarriages of justice" throughout their time in the US legal system, the men were both found not guilty of the murder last year.
